We got into a VIP tour through a friend the family. Got to walk around inside the VAB a bit (sorry, no photos). As well as within a couple thousand feet of Endeavour on the launch pad. The single greatest impression on me is how industrial a lot of the activities are. You get this notion of space being all glitzy and modern and so forth, but some of the behind-the-scenes machinery involved is simply stunning.
