No Wiggle Room in a Window War

In the past year, New York State updated the state code governing buildings to require bedroom windows to be at least 5.7 square feet in size. This is causing conflict in the Amish communities in western NY, which have their own religious/cultural requirement that all windows be 5 square feet in size (ok, I'm not sure it's an area requirement as much as the dimensions of the windows are fixed). The local township has sided with the affected Amish while the state wants to haul everyone into court. Read: No Wiggle Room in a Window War.
