Summary

I am a highly skilled technology professional with significant experience managing interdisciplinary teams, projects, and technology operations across large, international enterprises and organizations.

I have thirty years’ experience developing software, and over twenty years’ experience with internet technologies and operations. I created and ran the technology operations for IBM’s corporate web site and was responsible for leading IBM’s world wide technology professionals during the early growth years of the Internet as a commercial medium.

I have advised C–level executives at IBM and other organizations on Internet strategy and issues encompassing technology, privacy, security, and marketing and advertising.

I am interested in opportunities to advise organizations on Internet technology strategy and operations in the New York City metropolitan area.

Managed development and I/T operations teams. Implemented Extreme Programming methodology to develop beta versions of core product.

Reviewed systems and network configurations for clients, advising project lead on opportunities to optimize implementation. 2001.

Senior Manager, World Wide Olympic Games Technology, IBM Global Services

Assumed management of application and content teams responsible for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games web site. Managed team of up to 35 programmers spread across the U.S., Spain, and Australia. Successfully transitioned team to on-site operations support for “games-time” during the Olympic Games. Successfully placed team members on completion of Olympic Games and closure of IBM’s sponsorship. 1999 — 2001.

Senior Manager and Corporate Webmaster, IBM Corporation

Over five years, developed the office and role of Corporate Webmaster within IBM’s corporate structure. Responsible for ensuring the technical quality of IBM’s web sites, and directly responsible for managing I/T operations for IBM’s corporate web sites including www.ibm.com.

Worked with design and marketing peers to manage and protect IBM’s identity on the Internet. Created the core technologies and methodologies used to deploy and manage content and applications on IBM’s web infrastructure.

Directly managed team of ten systems programmers and administrators, lead a worldwide matrix of technology professionals responsible for IBM’s Internet systems. 1994 — 1999.

U.S. Operations Manager, 1998 Nagano Olympic Games web site

Managed U.S. operations for the 1998 Nagano Olympic Games web site. Responsible for systems management of a distributed node hosting cluster spread across U.S. and Japan. January — February 1998.

Systems Architect, Deep Blue vs. Kasparov (the rematch)

Designed, deployed and managed the special event web site www.chess.ibm.com in support of the 1997 rematch between Garry Kasparov and IBM’s Deep Blue system. January — May 1997.

Webmaster, 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games

Served as on–site technology liaison amongst International Olympic Committee staff, IBM Corporate Communications staff, and core web site technology team based in Southbury, CT. Concurrently managed IBM Corporate site, www.ibm.com and its deployment to IBM RS/6000 SP cluster. July 1996.

Systems Architect, 1996 National Governors Education Summit

Designed, deployed, and managed the special event web site www.summit96.ibm.com as well as on–site technology for the governors and their staffs. March 1996.

Staff Programmer, IBM Large Scale Computing Division

Developed documentation and software in support of an in–house object–oriented development environment (Case/390). Served as advocate and evangelist for networked technologies within the MVS development community. Developed networked applications to support interactions with customer community. Developed first web site for the mainframe and supercomputing organization, http://lscftp.kgn.ibm.com. 1990 — 1994.
